Care in Boston

Care in Boston

# What changes because I am in Boston?

Focus on the place where you receive care, the person prescribing and the pharmacy supplying it.

Term in plain words

## Massachusetts care rules

For a patient physically in Massachusetts, the state medical board treats a doctor’s care as taking place here, as of September 30, 2026.

## Check these points

- **Say where you will be during the visit**
For an online visit, give your actual location that day. Ask how travel would affect the next visit.

Boston on a search page does not tell you where the person offering care is licensed.

- **Check the person’s profession**
Massachusetts has separate licensing boards for doctors, physician assistants, nurses and pharmacies, as of September 30, 2026.

These are different professional roles. Ask which role the person providing your care holds.

- **Check medicine sent from elsewhere**
An out-of-state pharmacy needs a Massachusetts non-resident licence to send medicine into the state, as of September 30, 2026.

Non-resident means the pharmacy is based outside Massachusetts.

## Notes that explain the checks

### A local office or an online visit

Ask the person caring for you whether checking your problem needs an examination at a clinic or can begin online.

Care through telehealth may use video, a phone call or an online exchange of information. Ask who arranges any examination or test that needs a visit in person.

### The word “controlled” can confuse

Massachusetts sorts medicines into groups called schedules. As of September 30, 2026, Schedule VI is its group for prescription medicines outside the other groups, including medicines that are not addictive.

A Massachusetts doctor needs the state’s prescribing registration to prescribe a Schedule VI medicine, as of September 30, 2026.

If an offer calls a medicine “controlled”, ask whether it means the state or federal grouping. Ask the doctor to confirm the permission needed to prescribe it here.

This is Boston peptide care put into plain words: a guide for asking better questions, never a clinic or a seller.
