The care visit

The care visit

# What happens before a prescription?

Arrive with your goal and a short list of questions. Leave with an explanation of the plan.

Term in plain words

## Assessment

An assessment is a check of your health: the person caring for you works out what is happening and what care may fit.

## Check these points

- **Put your reason for the visit into words**
Describe what you want help with. Bring a list of medicines and supplements you already use.

Include any earlier test results you want the person caring for you to consider.

- **Ask what information is still missing**
As of September 30, 2026, Massachusetts board policy calls for a medical history, a suitable examination and recorded findings before a doctor issues a valid prescription.

A history is your account of health problems and past care. Recorded findings are the doctor’s written notes about what they found.

- **Leave with a follow-up plan**
Ask what the plan is meant to change, how progress will be assessed and who will answer questions.

Ask for the explanation in writing if there is too much to remember.

## Notes that explain the checks

### Tests are a question, not a package

Medical-board guidance says the person prescribing must arrange needed tests or examinations, or send you to someone who can, as of September 17, 2026.

Ask what each proposed test is meant to answer. Ask for its cost before it is ordered.

### Discuss the decision as well as the product

Ask why this treatment fits your goal, what other choices exist and why the person caring for you prefers this plan.

A useful visit can end with more questions, a visit to another health professional or a different treatment to discuss. Write down the next step.

This is Boston peptide care put into plain words: a guide for asking better questions, never a clinic or a seller.
